Current Location: The monument was moved to Burlington Aerie No. 150, 2727 Mount Pleasant St., and rededicated in April 2005.
Original Location: In front of Memorial Auditorium (east of the intersection of Front & Jefferson Streets). Later put into storage in a hanger at the Burlington Airport.

Notes: In August 2000, the Iowa Civil Liberties Union asked Johnson County to remove the monument from courthouse property, saying that its presence on public property was a violation of the First Amendment principle of separation of church and state. To avoid litigation, the monument was moved from the Johnson County Courthouse to Iowa City Aerie No. 695. (Source: The Eagle Magazine, Nov. 2001).
